Dear Student,

A warm welcome to you in our College. It came into existence in 1991 during the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar. A constituent co-educational college of the University of Delhi, it is fully funded by GNCTD. Students particularly girls and those from weaker sections are motivated for higher study and to take up short-term skill based job oriented add-on courses and language courses and undertake research. The college is relatively young and has recently completed its 25th year of eventful existence. Our College motto, ‘Atto Deepo Bhava’, meaning ‘Be your own light’ motivates us to always work hard with dedication and integrity to enlighten ourselves and contribute to the society’s welfare while deriving strength from the teachings and mission of Baba Saheb. The College provides ample opportunities to mingle together in academics, sports, Eco-Club, NSS, NCC, Gender Development, Cultural and other extra-curricular activities organized through different societies and clubs. Your participation in such activities helps you to inculcate the spirit of group work, mutual respect, discipline and social responsibility towards both college and community development and energizes to march ahead. The college is known for its nature care and environment friendly initiatives promoted though its Rose & Herbal Gardens, Paper Recycling Unit and Solar Water Heater etc. The role of our students all through these years is admirable. The college has marched ahead on all fronts despite many odds created by vested interests ever since I joined in 2007. The College library, access to E-resource, playground, canteen, auditorium and I.T. enabled WI-Fi, fully CCTV surveillance and Computer Labs are second to none. You will feel happy that our students’ creativity further facilitated by the staff and reflected in our administrative practices has been well appreciated by the University and college was awarded Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation in ‘Antardhwani’ 2015. The college invites distinguished experts, conducts workshops and organizes industrial visits and village tours to update your knowledge and create awareness about the ground realities of life. I am sure, you will get many opportunities to show-case your creative talents and skills besides gaining academic excellence. The teaching faculty, staff, Alumni s and the Governing Body are always striving for your all-round growth and development in your chosen fields. Please make the best use of the college life and fully participate in student centered activities. It will definitely play a significant role in shaping your career. Please do not forget that your potential to create an inclusive society can be realized only if you love your country and work hard with dedication, honesty and discipline. This is a daunting challenge as the world is getting competitive and employment opportunities are not expanding as required.
